So today I pretty much finished my Christmas shopping. First I walked (about 2 miles) to the Manchester Fort Shopping Centre. There you can find pretty much anything you need; Woolworth’s (like Wal-mart or Target before they went Super), B and Q (like Home Depot), TK Maxx (no that’s not a type-o, it’s the same as TJ Maxx), Borders, Starbucks, Subway, Pizza Hut etc.

From there I walked (about 1.5 miles) into downtown called City Centre. On the way I passed St. Chad’s Street where St. Chad’s Catholic Church is located.

I don’t know that I’ve ever seen City Centre as crowded as it was today. The weather was very nice so lots of people were out doing their Christmas shopping. The most notable thing about City Centre is The Wheel of Manchester, which you can see from just about anywhere.

After finishing my shopping I walked with all my shopping (about 3 miles) home.

Friday marked the end of our super busy two-week stretch of ministry. Yesterday and today were pretty relaxed days with some people doing a bit of traveling and most of us doing a lot of shopping and relaxing. This next week is a pretty normal week that then leads us into debrief. Most of the participants and some of the staff will be heading back to the States on December 15th. I’ll be back State side on December 20th.

Peace,
Chad

P.S. If you were keeping track, I walked at least 6.5 miles just getting to and from the places I needed to go today. Cars and public transport are a luxury!!
